If you are considering fuller lips and rejuvenation of your face ….
This procedure involves injecting a substance under the wrinkle or deep facial line to push the wrinkle outward, thereby, making it fuller and less noticeable. A more vibrant and younger looking appearance is the goal of injecting fillers.
JUVÉDERM® is a ‘next generation’ family of smooth, long-lasting gel dermal fillers, and the latest advance in hyaluronic acid cosmetic filler technology. JUVÉDERM™ is a non-animal dermal filler offering a natural look/feel and long-lasting results for up to six months or longer. Over recent years, hyaluronic acid, a complex sugar already found naturally in the body, has become a favored compound for replenishing the areas of the face where the skin’s volume and fullness has been lost by injecting the filler in the skin.
The newest advance in dermal fillers has been the use of blunt tip microcannulas to inject the filler instead of using sharp needles. These tiny cannulas decrease patient bruising and discomfort. These cannulas have a smooth end and a flexible body. The smooth end does not cut through tissues and the flexible body slides under the papillar dermis inside the reticular dermis and hypodermis. These special cannulas are used in our practice and have received great reviews by patients.
In the body, hyaluronic acid fills the space between collagen and elastin fibers of the skin. It is present in all living cells; attracting and binding water, hydrating and giving the skin smoothness and volume. However, as the body ages, the ability of the body’s cells to manufacture its own hyaluronic acid is diminished, resulting in the loss of skin volume, producing folds and wrinkles.
JUVÉDERM® is biosynthetic and of non-animal origin. Since it is not created from an animal source, there is little chance of allergic reaction. The formula is highly biocompatible, and no testing is required prior to administration. It has been proven to be safe and effective for skin of all types and colors.
The main difference between JUVADERM® and other popular hyularonic acid fillers is that JUVÉDERM® has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid, and is produced with a special formulation process that makes it smoother than that of other popular gels. These gels utilize a suspension process, with particles that can be visibly seen. JUVÉDERM® is completely transparent.
The combination of the higher concentration of hyaluronic acid and the smoother formulation make JUVÉDERM® long-lasting (up to six months or longer), easier to fill with, and should produce more natural, even filling effects, with patient discomfort minimized at the injection site. As with other hyaluronic acid fillers, JUVÉDERM® is gradually absorbed naturally into the body.
FAQ
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance (complex sugar) found in all living organisms. It hydrates the skin by holding in water, and acts as a cushion and lubricant to reduce damage to the skin. Hyaluronic acid is an important component of youthful, supple and elastic skin, helping to maintain skin volume. As we age, our skin loses hyaluronic acid, contributing to the formation of wrinkles.
What is a “liquid facelift” ?
This is a new buzz word for any of the non surgical facial rejuvenation procedures. A “liquid facelift” is not a true facelift but camouflages the effects of aging. The procedure involves placing significant amounts of dermal fillers into the face. The filler improves the wrinkles and lines which are caused by loss of volume with aging. It re-inflates sunken wrinkles. The benefit is temporary and may only last 6 months. The “liquid facelift” combines hyaluronic acid dermal fillers (Juvederm, Restylane) calcium- based fillers (Radiesse) and muscle neurotoxins (Botox, Xeomin) all administered at the same visit for correction of lines, wrinkles and folds. These procedures of course can be done separately but it adds convenience to have two or three done at the same time. These procedures are performed with minimal discomfort in less than a hour with little to no downtime. Sometimes a little bruising or swelling may be noticed. Any other side effects are rare. Fillers are excellent methods of accomplishing fast, minimal down time corrections with relatively low risk. Fillers need to be repeated so over the long term, it may cost more than a facelift which actually changes the facial soft tissue anatomy.
What is a liquid eyelift ?
A “liquid eyelift” is not a true surgical eyelift but a procedure which can replace the volume missing in the groove or hollow under the eye. This hollow under the eye is called the tear trough and can give the appearance of circles or bags under the eye. The treatment is fast with minimal down time. The filler gives more youthful fullness and re-inflates the hollowed appearance.
